Goverment Authorised Exchange  VISA

The Temporary Work: A Government Authorised Exchange visa opens doors to a special opportunity for individuals eager to embark on short-term work experiences, training, research, or fellowships sanctioned by approved government exchange schemes. To make a successful application, it's crucial to keep a couple of key points in mind. Firstly, your purpose for coming to the UK should align with gaining work experience, training, participating in the Overseas Government Language Programme, conducting research, or engaging in a fellowship. Secondly, having a sponsor is essential. This sponsor could be an organization overseeing an approved exchange scheme, a higher education institution, or a government department or agency. It's not just a visa; it's a tailored chance to explore and contribute to various fields through short-term opportunities in the United Kingdom.

Here are the essential requirements and necessary documents for applying for a Temporary Work – Government Authorised Exchange visa. It's crucial to understand that this list of documents and requirements isn't exhaustive. Depending on your unique circumstances, you might need to furnish additional documents or meet different criteria.

Sponsorship: Before applying, secure a certificate of sponsorship from your licensed sponsor. This document validates your job and personal details. Note that your work, training, or research must align with the activities of your sponsor organization.

Duration of Stay: The duration of your stay depends on your visa's length starting and ending dates of your job. You may be granted a visa for a maximum of 12 or 24 months based on the chosen scheme.

What You Can and Cannot Do: You are permitted to:

  • Study (some courses may require an Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate).
  • Work in the job specified in your certificate of sponsorship.
  • Undertake a second job for up to 20 hours per week.
  • Engage in a job on the Skilled Worker shortage occupation list for up to 20 hours per week in addition to your main job.
