The Parent of a Child Student visa is designed for parents whose children already have or are in the process of applying for a Child Student visa in the UK. It's a practical choice for parents who wish to be alongside their children during their studies in the UK. However, it's crucial to be aware that this visa comes with some limitations on your activities while you're in the UK. Despite the restrictions, it's an avenue that allows parents to provide support and share in the educational journey of their children on British soil. It's not just a visa; it's an opportunity for family closeness during a significant chapter of a child's academic life.
Here are the essential requirements and necessary documents for applying for a Parent of a Child Student Visa. It's crucial to understand that this list of documents and requirements isn't exhaustive. Depending on your unique circumstances, you might need to furnish additional documents or meet different criteria.
To be eligible for a Parent of a Child Student visa, you must:
- Be the sole parent accompanying your child in the UK.
- Have adequate financial resources to support yourself and your child.
- Maintain your primary residence outside the UK.
- Plan to leave the UK when your visa expires.
Your child must be aged between 4 and 11 and have a Child Student visa. They must also be attending an independent school in the UK.

If you have other children, you can bring them with you if they also have or are applying for a Child Student visa. However, you cannot bring other family members on this visa. They may need to apply for a short-term visit visa.
You can stay in the UK until your child's visa expires or they turn 12, whichever occurs first. You can extend your visa if you meet the eligibility requirements.
