Short-term study visa

The UK Short-Term Study Visa specifically is for folks wanting to learn English, especially if they have a good reason for it. Whether it's improving language skills for a specific purpose or getting an English certificate to pursue further studies in the UK, this visa has you covered. It's a visa tailor-made for those on a language-learning mission with a clear goal. So, if you have a valid reason to boost your English proficiency, this visa is your key to achieving that and paving the way for future studies in the UK. This visa route is designed for individuals aged 16 and above, and the courses last between 6 and 11 months at accredited institutions in the UK.

Here are the essential requirements and necessary documents for applying for a UK Short-Term Study. It's crucial to understand that this list of documents and requirements isn't exhaustive. Depending on your unique circumstances, you might need to furnish additional documents or meet different criteria.

  • Applications must be made from outside the UK.
  • Provide written evidence of acceptance onto an English language course (exclusive of other subjects) lasting between 6 and 11 months.

To establish genuine intent, you must demonstrate that you are a serious English learner who is committed to completing your studies and returning to your home country after completing your visa. You can do this by:

  • Explain your motivation for studying English and how it will benefit you in the future.
  • Describe your plans for returning to your home country and how your English language skills will help you achieve your goals.

When submitting your application for a short-term study visa, it is essential to provide robust evidence demonstrating your compliance with the stipulated requirements. The evidence should encompass the following key components:

Confirmation of Enrolment and Attendance:

A formal letter from your English language school verifying your enrolment status and confirming your attendance during the course. This letter should be on official letterhead, clearly stating the duration and nature of your intended studies and level of course.

Financial Documentation:

Comprehensive proof of funds indicating your ability to support yourself throughout the study period and that you have funds available to cover your course fee. Acceptable documents may include:

Payslips: If employed, provide recent payslips showcasing your income.

Bank Statements: Present bank statements illustrating your financial stability and the availability of ample funds to cover your expenses.

Employer's Letter: A letter from your employer, if applicable, affirming your employment status, income, and the employer's consent for your temporary absence.

Business Owner Documents: If you own a business, relevant documents verify your business's financial standing and your role within it.

Accommodation Arrangements:

Substantiate your plans for accommodation during your study period. This could be in the form of an agreement, confirmation from a hall of residence, or any other document validating your housing arrangements.

If you are aged 16 or 17, you need parental consent.
